Figma announced a major collaboration with Google to integrate several Gemini AI models — Gemini 2.5 Flash, Gemini 2.0, and Imagen 4 — into its design platform. This move aims to enhance creativity, speed, and collaboration for over 13 million monthly users.
The integration allows designers to generate, edit, and modify images using natural prompts, accelerating design workflows and reducing latency. Early tests using Gemini 2.5 Flash showed a 50% reduction in response time for Figma’s “Make Image” feature.
Google Strengthens Its AI Ecosystem
This partnership aligns with Google’s broader AI strategy. The company recently launched Gemini Enterprise, a platform that embeds AI directly into enterprise workflows — enabling users to chat with company data, build AI agents, and automate tasks across departments.
Alongside Figma, Google announced partnerships with GAP, Mercedes, Klarna, Deloitte, and Deutsche Telekom, among others, to expand Gemini’s enterprise reach.
According to Google, 65% of Google Cloud customers already use its AI services, showcasing strong adoption momentum in the enterprise sector.
Industry Context — Competition Heats Up
Figma’s partnership mirrors a growing trend of AI integrations in mainstream software. OpenAI recently announced app integrations within ChatGPT — including Spotify, Booking.com, Canva, and Figma itself — signaling that Figma’s collaboration with Google is non-exclusive.
As the AI race intensifies, these integrations highlight a clear goal: embedding generative AI directly into creative workflows to streamline design, boost efficiency, and redefine collaboration.
